Europe buys differently from Asia. Volumes per line are smaller, specifications are tighter, labelling is legislated in detail, and the buyer expects the exporter to know all of that before the first sample ships. That suits us: it rewards consistency over price alone.
What European buyers take from us
- Spain & Italy — pharaoh cuttlefish, Indian squid, octopus, cuttlefish skewers. Southern Europe is the deepest cephalopod market in the world.
- Belgium & the Netherlands — shrimp, cephalopods and value-added packs, much of it re-distributed across the EU from Antwerp and Rotterdam.
- Across the EU — mahi mahi, pomfret and emperor fish for food service.
EU compliance: what has to be true before you order
Seafood entering the EU must come from an establishment on the approved list for the exporting country, travel with a health certificate in the EU model issued by the competent authority, and be pre-notified in TRACES NT by the importer before arrival at the Border Control Post. Catch certification under the EU IUU Regulation applies to wild-caught product. These are the importer's and the exporter's obligations jointly — confirm the current requirements with your own authority, and tell us at enquiry stage that the destination is the EU so the documentation is built correctly from the start. Labelling for EU retail
EU consumer labelling on fishery products requires the commercial designation and the scientific name of the species, the production method, the FAO catch area (or the country of farming), the fishing gear category, whether the product has been defrosted, and the minimum durability date — alongside net and drained weight. Sourcing and traceability
Every lot is traceable to landing date and vessel category at Veraval harbour. We buy at the landing centre, which is what makes that traceability possible — the chain is short enough to document honestly.
Commercial terms
We quote FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva or CFR your EU discharge port. Transit to North European ports is typically in the region of four to five weeks.
